Welcome to this week’s edition of Rough Draft, a newsletter for unfinished electronic music. If you left feedback for one of last week’s artists, thank you so much. This newsletter is only worthwhile because of your feedback, and it means a lot that you took the time to share your thoughts. If you’re new to the newsletter and want to listen to any of the previous editions, you can find them all here. I am always happy to pass on feedback.
A lot of submissions have asked for feedback on the arrangement or progression of a track. I came across this article from Attack Magazine that pulls apart the arrangement of Floorplan’s “Never Grow Old (Re-Plant).” If you’re looking for general arrangement guidance, this doesn’t seem like a bad place to start.
As always, I’m always looking for new submissions for the week after next. If you’re interested in getting a draft of your music in front of 120 people, reply to this email and say hi, or email me directly if you prefer.
Let’s get started.

I have included links to three tracks below, along with details about what kind of feedback each artist is looking for. Listen, enjoy, and if something catches your ear, reply to this email with your thoughts. Each track is hosted on SoundCloud, so if you’d prefer to leave comments there, you are welcome to.
grin — “if it rained”
Broken, hardware-centric, and dreary, “if it rained” does a wonderful job of evoking the image of a wet cityscape late at night. grin is a Boston-based producer, and has asked on feedback on the structure and the amount of variation in the track. Listen here.pteron — “Spritz”
Bursting with energy, “Spritz” is an all-out sprint that still manages to exercise a teasing amount of restraint. pteron is based in San Francisco, and has asked for general feedback on the track. Listen here.Sagotsky + Scallywag — “BOUNCE IRT LIKE ITS HAWT”
This live-recorded track is a wiggly jam between two Brooklyn-based artists (Sagotsky and Scallywag). It’s one of those tracks that you hear when you’ve show up to the party late and everyone’s already dancing. General feedback is appreciated. Listen here.
That’s all that I have for now. If you have thoughts about the music, this newsletter, or anything else, reply to this email and say hello. I’ll see you soon.
